Participating in a coaching group is a great way to experience the benefits of life and career coaching in an economical and efficient way. All coaching groups are facilitated by Drew Carey, a board certified life coach and executive coach.
Coaching groups are comprised of 3-10 members who commit not only to their own growth but to the growth of others in the group. This occurs through the confidential sharing of information, supportive feedback and participation in activities that are tailored for the benefit of the group though still unique to the needs of the individual members.
Currently, there are three groups offered on an ongoing basis, Professional Warriors men’s group, Staying Aligned and Passionate Purpose.
Professional Warriors is a men’s only coaching group that is open to men at the mid-stage of their professional career, as they define it. It could be they’ve worked professionally for only 5 years or 25 years. But they share the experience of not being new to the work world but still feeling stuck when it comes to moving ahead in their careers. Through discussion and activities, participants learn strategies for releasing limiting beliefs, negative thinking and self-sabotaging behavior. The coach-facilitator offers an 8-session framework that the group may use when it makes sense, but other topics are discussed when it is decided to be of general interest to the group.
A new group is now forming that will meet on the 1st Thursday of each month, from 7-8:30 p.m. The group is usually closed to new members joining after the third session, but the group members may decide to close the group earlier or keep it open to new members longer.
Staying Aligned is a general life coaching group that is open to anyone but focuses on helping attendees to integrate their core values into their daily lives and activities.
This is an open group, meaning that new members can join the group at any time.
This group usually meets the 2nd Thursday of each month, from 7-8:30 p.m.
Passionate Purpose is a specialty group designed for those interested in career coaching. Attendees are in jobs that may not be as fulfilling or satisfying to them as it once was. They are contemplating a change in job or career and seek support for their decision. A significant number of attendees are not ready to leave their jobs and instead are seeking strategies for re-capturing the passion they once felt for their work.
This group is open to anyone, men and women, entry level to senior level workers.
This group usually meets the 4th Thursday of each month, from 7-8:30 p.m.
The format for both groups is generally the same. The group begins with a check-in from each member to inform other group members of the successes and challenges from the past month. After this, there is a period of facilitated discussion on either an issue brought up in a past meeting, during the check-in or a pre-selected topic or issue. Sometimes there will be a guest speaker during this time. At most meetings, there will be some activity to help members reinforce their goals. Each group ends with a “check-out,” time for attendees to discuss what piece of value they are taking with them and their plans to apply this during the next month.
Once a group reaches 5 or more members or its 3rd meeting, it closes to new members joining. A new date and time will be established for an additional group and membership will open for that new group.
